James Edward Massey,Sr.

James Edward Massey, Sr., 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 25th at Moses Cone Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm in the Fair Funeral Home Chapel, May 31, 2022 with Military Honors following on the front lawn. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

James was born November 21, 1942 to the late Samuel (Buck) Everette Massey and Dovie Roberts Massey in Rockingham County.  Mr. Massey served our country in both the Army and Navy. He was raised in the First Church of the Living God in Eden. After he retired in 2009 from 34 years of construction work, James loved mowing grass, fishing and sitting on the front porch swing.  He also loved walking around his block but his favorite thing to do was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Mary Frances Dickens Massey; one son, James Massey, Jr. (Lori); two daughters, Gail Richardson (Harry) of Rockingham, NC and Debra Massey of Mayodan, NC; twelve grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren; one sister, Gracie Clark of Bassett, VA

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Austin Grubb; three brothers, Phillip Massey, Jerry Massey and Charles Massey.
