James Bryant Carter

James Bryant Carter, 55, of Cascade passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Hopkins Family Cemetery on Huntington Trail in Cascade, VA.

James was born March 28, 1968, in Rockingham County, NC, to James Freddy Carter and Amanda Stephenson Carter. He loved working with his hands and spent his career as a heavy equipment operator and a mechanic for Ace Avant. He liked welding, chainsaws, and bulldozers. James loved his family and spending his time with them. He was a God-fearing man, stood in the gap for many and opened the door for all. James was a missionary; his favorite place was Kenya, Africa where his best friend, Paul Oloo and his wife Beatrice reside. He said, “the only thing you get out of life is what you eat.” James loved guns, knives, pig meat, and his grand boys! Most of all, he loved Jesus!

Surviving are his loving wife, Regina Hunt Carter of the home; mother, Amanda Stephenson Carter; sons, Donald Bryant Carter and Willis Luke Carter (Michala); daughters, Pamela Cheryl Carter and Samantha Carter Sadler (Christopher); grandchildren, James Cole Carter and Evan Michael Carter; brother, Nathan Carter; sisters, Nadra Carter, Joyce Ellis, and Ola Carter.

James is preceded in death by his father, James Freddy Carter.
