James A. Lyons

James Aaron Lyons, 77, of 14832 NC Hwy 87, Eden, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 17, 2017, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Lighthouse Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 -2 pm) at the church and other times at the home.

Mr. Lyons was born September 9, 1940 in Galax, VA, to the late Charlie Clifton Lyons and Martha Smith Lyons Wilson.  He attended Lighthouse Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, mowing and Nascar.  James was a retiree of Bryant Electric Company.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Knight Lyons of the home;  daughter, Theresa Rumley (Paul) of Walnut Cove;  sister, Sharon Jones (John) of Kernersville and Joan Hamby (Steve) of King;  brother, Wayne Lyons (Janet) of East Bend;  step-son, Neil Shelton, Jr. (Jennifer) of Stoneville;  grandchildren, Christopher Langham (Alexa) and Crystal Nichole Fulks (Michael);  step-grandchildren, Tyler Shelton (Ashley) and Taylor Shelton (Katie);  great-grandchildren, Kendall Alice and Jackson Rice;  and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Bill Lyons and sisters, Shirley Poole and Shelby Willard.
