Jackie "J.C." Adkins

Jackie C. Adkins "J.C." age 75, of 114 S. Rickman Street in Eden, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 4, 2012 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

A funeral service will be held 3 pm Sunday October 7, 2012 at Immanuel Friends Church with burial to follow at Danview Cemetery with Military rites performed by Rockingham County Honor Guard.

Mr. Adkins was born June 2, 1937 in Draper, NC, son of the late William Henry and Agnes Elizabeth McDaniel Adkins. He was a US Air Force veteran with four years of service and a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge. Mr. Adkins spent 20 years with Trailways Transportation System and 19 years with Greyhound Bus Lines, serving both as terminal manager. He attended Immanuel Friends Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Kay Adkins Stewart and husband Bobby of Pelham; sons, Gregory Brian Adkins and wife Carol of Eden , Christopher Dale Adkins and wife Jeannie, of Danville, VA; step-son, Rusty Chambers and wife Lisa of Eden; sister, Bonita Adkins Taylor and husband John of Eden; brother, William "Tony" Adkins and wife Pam of Eden; seven grandchildren, Ashley Kerr and husband Troy, Brandon Chambers, Evan Stewart, Bryan Adkins, Hannah Adkins, Danielle and James Duan ; two great-granchildren, Madison Gorrell and Avalilly Kerr , several neices and nephews and special friend, Doris Davis of Eden

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Francis Roberts Adkins.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening 6 -8 Pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home.
