Iris Jane Hall Newby

Iris Hall Newby, 86, of 211 S. Union Street in Eden, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 30, at North Spray Christian Church with burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10 - 11 AM) at the church.

Mrs. Newby was born July 24, 1931 in Leaksville, NC, to the late Judson S. and Sallie Brown Hall.  She was a member of North Spray Christian Church and a retiree of E. I. DuPont in Martinsville, VA.  Iris enjoyed attending her church and visiting retirement homes.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Edward Newby, Sr. and wife, Beverly, of Greensboro;  grandson, Thomas Edward Newby, Jr. of Eden;  and sister, Helen Scheets of Aurora, IL.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Bethel Newby and siblings, Lucy Wetherholt, Vivian Emmons, Thomas "Mack" Hall, Fred Hall, Judson Hall, Jr., Barbara Neushwander, and Mary Brice.
