Irene Moore Squires, 89, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, March 3, at First United Methodist Church of Draper. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville. A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Squires was born April 30, 1921, daughter of the late Elijah and Berta McBride Moore. She was a member of First United Methodist Chruch of Draper and a retired secretary for Fieldcrest Mills. Surviving are her two daugthers, Donna Squires Chamblin of Lexington and Melba Squires Sgarlato of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; four grandchildren, Angela Martin, Gregory Warner, Michele Vernon and Cheryl Casstevens; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Paige, Kylie, and Drew. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harold Franklin Squires; four brothers; two sisters; and a great-granddaughter. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Clemmons Nursing Center and Forsyth Medical Center Palliative Care Unit, for their loving care and support.
