Holly Neaves Gilley Going, 75 of Eden, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024 at her home.
A service to celebrate the life of Holly will be held at 2pm Friday, December 6, 2024 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Overlook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service at her home, 569 Glovenia St, Eden, NC.
Holly was born September 12, 1949 in Elkin, NC, to the late Charles Mitchell Neaves and Holly Smith Neaves. She was a graduate of Elkin High School, class of 1967. She then went to Guilford College and UNC Chapel Hill, graduating with a bachelors in education. Holly was a member of First Baptist Church of Eden where she was very active in church activities. She also attended East Lake Community Church in Moneta, VA. Holly worked as a special education teacher for grades K-5 both at Happy Home School in Ruffin and Draper Elementary School in Eden. She enjoyed walking, reading, and playing cards. Holly was always ready for a game of Bridge, Yahtzee, or Hand and Foot. She spent much of her free time reading her Bible. Holly loved her home at Smith Mountain Lake where she took a lot of nature walks.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Sammy Cordell Going of the home; son, Jamie Gilley (Erin) of Eden; daughters Emily Gilley of Atlanta, GA, and Lauren Gilley of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Henry, Isaac, and Harper Gilley; stepson, James “Hamp” Going (Teri) of Wetumka, AL; step-grandchildren, Clark Crommelin (Whitney) of Somerville, AL, and John Hampton (Lottie) of Wetumka, AL; brothers, Michael Robinson Neaves of Elkin, NC, and Charles “Chuck” Neaves, Jr. of Elkin, NC; sister, Gayle Neaves Lyles of Elkin, NC.
In addition to her parents, Holly is preceded in death by her first husband, Sanford Patterson “Buzzy” Gilley, III; brother, Avery Neaves.
The family would like to issue a special thank-you to Jean Andrade, special friend and caregiver.
