Gloria W. Barker

Gloria Washburn Barker, 77, passed away Monday evening, October 1, 2018, at UNC-Rockingham Rehab and Nursing Care Center in Eden.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 5, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10 - 11 AM) at Fair Funeral Home.

Mrs. Barker was born March 21, 1941 in Spray, NC, to the late Curtis Washburn, Sr. and Bessie Bennett Washburn.  She was a graduate of Morehead High School and was a former supervisor for Vanier Graphics.  Gloria was a member of Osborne Baptist Church and loved attending.  She enjoyed her sister trips to the beach, camping, playing Rook and most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Julie Ferguson and Diane Harris both of Eden;  two grandchildren, Jamie Younger and wife, Jennifer of Dryfork, VA and Chris Snowdy of Eggleston, VA; four great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Olivia Younger, Brayden and Dominic Snowdy;  sisters, Cindy Harman and husband, Jack of Sunset Beach and Gayle Trollinger of Cascade, VA;  brothers, Homer Washburn of Eden and Mac Washburn and wife, Brenda of Smyrna;  and numerous nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Barker.
