Geraldine Frazier Witt Long, 90 of Eden, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Stuart, VA.
Geraldine was born April 7, 1936, in Henry County, VA, to the late Nick Harbor Witt and Nannie Hancock Witt. She attended Osborne Baptist Church. Geraldine was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a woman whose warmth could be felt the moment you walked through her door. Her home was always a place of comfort, love, and welcome, a place where family, friends, and even strangers could feel at home. She found joy in life’s simple gifts: tending to flowers, preparing meals for the people she loved, feeling the sunshine on her face, and spending time by the ocean. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and ability to make everyone feel seen and cared for will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are the love of her life, her husband of 68 years, Bobby Ray Long of the home; children, Sharon Dixon of High Point, Sheila Stewart (Ronnie) of Eden, Sherie Garrett (Al) of Eden, and Bobby Long, Jr. (Susan) of Ruffin. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie Pratt (Chris) of Eden, Jason Whitt of High Point, Brandon Stewart of Eden, Will Garrett (Tabitha) of Eden, Dustin Garrett of Eden, Nathaniel Long of Ruffin; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jack Witt (Nancy) of Reidsville, and Jerry Witt (Pat) of Elkin.
In addition to her parents, Geraldine is preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Witt and Bob Witt; and sisters, Phyllis Long, Nancy Spangler, Carletta Chilton, Launda Witt, Brenda Kallam, and infant sister Betty Jean Witt.
