George Otis Myers

George Otis Myers, 63, of Pelham, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Monday morning, June 20, 2016, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 24 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.

A Rockingham County native, Mr. Myers was born May 18, 1953 to the late Otis and Viola Wilson Myers.  He was a hard worker from the age of 15 when he started working for Spray Cotton Mill.  George retired from Vulcan, Inc., after 39 years of service.  He enjoyed gardening, working on tractors and cars and loved to fish.  

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth Shough Myers, of the home; daughter, Wendy Powell and fiancé, James Chaney of Pelham; two grandchildren, Chad Sexton and wife, Kayla and Makayla Stophel and husband, Wayne; two great-grandchildren, Nole and Emerson Sexton; brothers, Otis F. Myers (Lois) of Callins, VA and James J. Myers (Ellen) of Reidsville; sister, Susan Atkins of Pelham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
