George Ophus Pyron

November 17, 1932 — December 2, 2014

George Ophus Pyron, 82, of 259 Hutchinson Road in Stoneville, passed away Tuesday evening, December 2, 2014, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 6, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Mr. Pyron was born November 17, 1932 in Leaksville, NC to the late James C. and Freda Venske Pyron. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and a retiree of Cone Mills. George participated in the Big Sweep Clean Up with Dan River Basin and was the former Vice President of the Rockingham County Naturalist Club.

He is survived by his wife, Arletta Stowe Pyron of the home; two daughters, Freda B. Pyron of New Bern and Julia Pyron of Stoneville; and one granddaughter, Ashley Parham of Stoneville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Pyron and sisters, Sara Day, Marie Vaughn, Bertha Mae Robertson, and Pat Smith of Wentworth.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church and other times at the home of his daughter, Julia Pyron, 245 Hutchinson Road in Stoneville.
