George Lincoln Aheron

February 13, 1925 — April 24, 2014

George Lincoln Aheron, 89, of 333 Jackson Street in Eden, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, April 27, at Overlook Cemetery.

Mr. Aheron was born February 13, 1925, son of the late Daniel and Bertha Vestal Aheron. He was a World War II Navy veteran who served in the Pacific Theater and a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills. Mr. Aheron was a member of Spray Baptist Church. He was a former Boy Scout leader and a past assistant fire chief of Spray Fire Department.

He is survived by his two sons, George Michael Aheron and wife, Wanda, of Raleigh, and Richard Keith Aheron and wife, Sherry, of Eden; two grandchildren, Christopher Aheron and wife, Monica of Raleigh and Kelsi Aheron Chaney and husband, Josh, of Stoneville; two great-granddaughters, Laney Nicole Chaney and Emma Lynn Chaney; brothers, William Aheron of Dallas, TX and Wilfred Aheron of Rock Hill, SC; and sister, Gloria A. Robertson of Eden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Barker Aheron and four sisters.

The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at the home, 333 Jackson Street.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
