George Franklin Martin

April 13, 1952 — October 18, 2022

George Franklin Martin, 70, of Martinsville, VA, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.

A funeral service will be held 2pm, Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, NC, with burial to follow at Christian View Cemetery, 543 Anglin Mill Rd, Stoneville, NC. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1-2pm, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Mickey and Jackie Joyce, 604 Highland Dr., Eden, NC 27288.

George was born April 13, 1952, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Dewey Martin and Margaret Lawrence Martin. He was a graduate of Appalachian State University, having earned his bachelor’s degree in business management. George worked at Sara Lee and National Textiles, and retired from Karastan in 2009. He was a sports fan and especially loved Carolina Tar Heels and playing slow-pitch softball. He loved his family and spending time with them.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Denise Joyce Martin of the home; stepdaughters, Lorraine Carter (Johnathan) of Eden, Amber Ibarra (Kenny Ochoa) of Eden; grandchildren, Holly, Abe, Sophie, Ezra; brother, David Martin of Stoneville; sisters, Nancy Taylor of Spencer, Joan Richards (Jeff) of Stoneville, Jeanette Tapper (David) of Eden; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brothers, Dewey Martin, Jr. and Carroll Martin.
