George Andy Watkins

George Andy Watkins, 95, of Eden passed Monday, September 5, 2022 at his home.

A graveside service will be held 10am Friday, September 9, 2022 at Overlook Cemetery in Eden. George will lie-in-repose at Fair Funeral Home Thursday, September 8, 2022 from Noon – 5pm for those who are unable to attend the service.

George was born May 3, 1927 in the Price Community of NC to the late George Washington Watkins and Maggie Jones Watkins. George was a man of God; a faithful and active member of Bethel Baptist Church. George worked for Norfolk-Western Railroad, beginning as a machine operator in maintenance and retiring as an engineer. He enjoyed gardening and mowing his yard.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Pattie Eanes Watkins of the home; daughter, Tracie Stophel (Dwight) of Cascade, VA; granddaughter, Melissa Hale of Cascade, VA; great-grandsons, Jacob Watkins of Stoneville, NC, Tristan Angeli of Cascade, VA; sisters, Virginia Fain of Reidsville, NC, Nancy Watkins of Reidsville, NC.

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Ann Watkins; son, David Watkins; grandson, Brandon Watkins; his first wife and mother of his children, Betty Watkins; sister, Mary Owen; brothers, Lynn Watkins, Everette Watkins.
