Genevieve Carnett Howard, 90, passed away Tuesday evening, May 3, 2011 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 7, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. The burial will be in Morristown, Tn. at a later date. Mrs. Howard was born May 8, 1920 in Harrisburg, Illinois, daughter of the late Lee and Magdalene Foster Carnett. She was a member of First Baptist Church of White Pines in Tennessee and attended Leaksville United Methodist Church for a short period of time. She was the former owner and operator for A & W Restaurant. Genevieve was a very special lady to her family, friends and also to her animals. Her life was a shining example of love and service to all who knew her. Her servant's heart reached out to people and animals who needed a loving touch. Her wonderful sense of humor made all of us happy. Genevieve has left a legacy of love to each of us. Surviving is her daughter, Margaret Way and husband, DeForest of Eden; son, Bob Howard and wife, Carol of Edwardsville, Illinois; five grandchildren, Eric Way, Christa Joyce, Matthew Way, Douglas Way, and Sarah Bolyard; three great-grandchildren, Genevieve Joyce, Alysia Joyce and Ella Way; and sister, Pauline Riley of Hammond, Indiana. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ernest Howard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 - 2 PM) at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter at 562 Bethlehem Church Road in Eden.
