Jewel Gay Forrester, 91, of Eden, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025. Known affectionately as “Gay” to her family and friends, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose life was defined by love, faith, and generosity of spirit.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 16th at 2:00pm at Kings Highway Christian Church with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Born on May 13, 1934, in Glen Lyn, VA, Gay was the daughter of Rufus and Alma Broyles and the sister of Opal Broyles Meadows. She met and married the love of her life, Don Forrester, with whom she built a beautiful life centered on family and faith. Don and Gay raised three children: Diana Forrester Scharnus (husband Jerry Scharnus), Scott Forrester, and Gary Forrester (wife Kim Forrester). She was a proud grandmother of 8 and a great grandmother of 14.
In addition to her parents, Gay was preceded in death by her son, Scott Forrester.
Gay will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. She served the lives around her in and through various church communities while touching the lives of many with her sweet, gentle spirit. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
