Gary G. Daniels

May 25, 1960 — November 5, 2021

Gary Grat Daniels, 61, of Eden, NC, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, November 5, 2021, at his home.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Gary will be held on Sunday, November 14th, at 3pm, at Redemption Point Church, 327 N. 2nd Ave, Mayodan, North Carolina, 27027. Gary will receive full military honors. Family and friends will be received prior to the service, from 2-3pm. The family is receiving family and friends at other times at 1108 Lincoln St, Eden, NC 27288.

He was born in Mullens, West Virginia, to Grat Daniels and Virginia Lafferty Daniels. He graduated from Glen Rogers High School, class of '78. He enlisted in the Army and proudly served four years as a combat engineer. Afterwards, he moved to Eden, North Carolina. He retired as superintendent at Pine Products, after over thirty years of service to the company.

Gary loved his family and friends. He was a kind and compassionate man who would do anything he could to help someone. He was known, and loved, for his silly sense of humor and constant joking. He loved his church family and taking part in church productions. He was known as "the candy man" at church, always handing out candy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, target, trap, and skeet shooting. He liked to spend weekends at the Rockingham County Gun Club, where he served on the Board of Directors for a while. He loved to watch sports, especially Little League World Series. He was a proud Little League coach in Columbus, Georgia, from 1981-1983, until the Army lead him to Korea. His team held the championship title for winning the most consecutive games, which was eighty-two games. He was a big fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels, Indianapolis Colts, and would pull for the Denver Broncos alongside his daughter. He was an avid collector of baseball cards. Something he loved to do with, and for, his son. All who spent time with him loved him. He never met a stranger. He was a friend, brother, and a father figure, to many.

He is survived by his son, Gary Andrew "Andy" Daniels, of Denver, Colorado; Daughter, Stacie Daniels, of Denver, Colorado, who was currently staying with him at his residence; granddaughters, Kinley Daniels, Emma Smith, and Skyler Overby; brother Henry Daniels (Ella), of Ferrum, VA; sisters, Ruth Murphy (Doug), of Ridgeway, VA, Nancy Perry, of McCalla, AL, and Linda Kay Browning (Raymond), of Beckley, WV; his adorable Hedgehog, Stent; his beloved granddogs, Kiyah and Niko. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other beloved family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alexa Jewel Daniels; brothers, Lundy and Jesse Daniels; sister and brother-in-law, May and Terry Bailey; sister, Ann Crowe; and brother-in-law, Doug Perry.
