Gail Overby Gibbs

Gail Overby Gibbs went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 6, 2024.

A funeral service will be held at Happy Home Church, 6941 NC-700, Ruffin, NC 27326, on Tuesday, November 12th at 3pm with burial to follow. Pastor Jerry Lankford will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Gail was born on April 19th, 1946 to the late Percy and Lucille Overby. She was a native of Rockingham County. She farmed tobacco for the majority of her life and upon retiring she returned to her childhood home and farm. She loved cooking, gardening, watching old westerns, and caring for her family. She was an avid animal lover. Gail was also incredibly proud of her family’s roots in Rockingham County farming and enjoyed talking about the “good ole days”. Gail was a corner stone of her family and will be greatly missed.

Gail is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irvin Gibbs; sister, Ann Smith; brothers, Roger, Fred, Lewis, and Ricky Overby; and nephew, Tyson Overby.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kitty Renee Cannon of the home; sisters, Vicky Overby of the home, Karen (James) Johnson of Reidsville; special niece-in-law, Liz Bauman; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter, 250 Cherokee Camp Rd, Reidsville, NC 27320.
