Frederick Lancaster Turner, aged 84, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 8th, at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery in Reidsville, NC. Paul Gover will be officiating.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Diane Gover Turner; parents, Lancaster Turner and Lucy Kathleen Turner; his in-laws, Lewis Nelson Gover and Lula Mae Gover; siblings, George Thomas Turner and Sallie Kathleen Turner. He is survived by his loving children, Audrey Hunter, (Doug), Kathleen Turner, Frederick Turner, Jr., Karen Turner Altman (Richard), and Paul Turner (Amanda); his grandchildren, Sally, Jessica, Julia, Jessica, William, Preston, Zoey, Sadie, Katie, and Elizabeth; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
“Fred” was a man of many talents and hobbies, including music, art, organic gardening, and even beekeeping. He especially enjoyed playing “Blueberry Hill” on the piano and could comfortably pick up a banjo, mandolin, or guitar to join in any bluegrass song in session. His artistic talents ranged from calligraphy, painting quiet landscapes of the mountains he loved, and even drawing a life-sized Jesus for his church. He was a gifted mechanic who spent many decades working on trucks and cars in both his employment and as an aide to those in need of a repair. Most of all, Fred loved his family and cared deeply for his pets. He has crossed over the beautiful mountains often portrayed in his artwork to be with his Savior and his loved ones.
