Frank "Sonny" Howard Sherrill, III

Frank “Sonny” Howard Sherrill, III, 75 of Eden, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville.

A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden with a gathering to follow at the Morehead Fair House.

Sonny was born June 14, 1950, in Winston Salem, North Carolina, to the late Dr. Frank Howard Sherrill, Jr., and Alice Jean Johnson Sherrill. He was a graduate of Morehead High School, class of 1968. He then received his Bachelor in Social Work from East Carolina University. Sonny worked at Spectrum House in Raleigh as a social worker until his retirement. He enjoyed music, and played guitar and harmonica with the Pigz Brothers Band. Sonny loved spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his sons, Nathaniel Sherrill of Hannover, Germany, and Ben Sherrill of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Susan S. Grant (Gordon) and Jane Fisher, brother-in-law, W.C. Wrangham; mother of Nathaniel, Faye Lawrence; mother of Ben, Emily Wright; special friends, Winnie Brown and Aidan Brown; nephew, Matt Fisher; nieces, Rachel Rugh (Jonathan) and Glenna Grant; great-niece, Virginia Rugh; great-nephew, Grant Rugh.

In addition to his parents, Sonny is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Wrangham.
