Frances Kiger Fleming, 83, devoted Christian, beloved wife and mother, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday evening, December 23, 2009, at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 26, at First Baptist Church, Greenwood Street in Eden. Dr. Craig Bowman and Dr. Harry Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Fleming was born August 9, 1926, in Rural Hall, N.C., daughter of the late Harvey Eugene and Alice Alley Kiger. She graduated from Women's College (presently UNCG) in 1947. She taught school in the former Eden City School System and later became Director of Child Nutrition. She later became the Director of of Child Nutrition for the former Madison-Mayodan School System and retired in 1989. A long blessed life, she found great comfort and strength in her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her great loves were her church and family. Having meals with friends and family were her happiest times. She was a wonderful cook and a dedicated choir member. She loved playing bridge, tennis and beach trips with friends and family. Her greatest gift was her loving Christian inspiration she shared with her family and friends. Surviving are her husband, Jack T. Fleming, and sons, Tommy Fleming and Michael Fleming and wife, Cathy, all of Eden; daughter, Janet Fleming of Burlington; grandchildren, Justin and Beth Lowder, David and Brandon Fleming; sister-in- law, Elizabeth Fleming Pace; brother-in-law, Art Nashand; and numerous loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Clark Kiger and sister, Iris Nachand. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Greenwood Street, Eden, NC 27288. The family would like to offer a special Thank You to the dedicated and compassionate doctors and staff at Dayspring Family Medicine and Morehead Memorial Hospital and nursing center. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon, prior to the service on Saturday morning at First Baptist Church and other times at her home, 532 Briarwood Drive in Eden.
