Evelyn Marie James Land Brown, 94, passed away early Thursday morning, June 28, 2018, at UNC-Rockingham Rehab and Nursing Center in Eden.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, July 1, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 - 2 PM) at Fair Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown was born March 18, 1924 in Franklin Co., VA, to the late Thomas Albert James and Mary Lou Holly James. She was a graduate of Leaksville High School and a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills. Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church of Stoneville where she enjoyed many church activities. She was an excellent seamstress and and put her talent to great use, sewing for her family. She was also a wonderful cook.
She is survived by son, Charles Alfred Land and wife, Bonnie, of Stoneville; daughter, Maria Land Carter and husband, James of Stoneville; five grandchildren, Scott Land, Shane Minter, Amy Minter, Wesley Land and Emily Land Beaulaurier; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Elaine James.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril Brown and great-grandson, Thomas Kullberg.
