Eunice Lorene Thurman Rice

Eunice Lorene Thurman Rice, 74, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, August 14, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends Sunday evening, 7 - 9 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 133 Wimbish Road in Eden.

Mrs. Rice was born June 18, 1943 in Henry County, Virginia to the late Reverend Jesse Douglas Thurman and Cornelia Smith Thurman.  She was a graduate of Morehead High School, Class of 1961 and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.  Eunice was a retiree of Fieldcrest-Cannon General Office.  

She is survived by her two daughters, Tanya R. Smith (Ken) and Sonya B. Vernon (Jerry), both of Eden;  son, Christopher D. Rice (Angie) of Eden;  10 grandchildren;  13 great-grandchildren;  brother, Roger Thurman (Gail) of Reidsville;  sister, Glenda Siegner (Connie) of Eden;  and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Thurman.
