Eudene Smith Martin

Eudene Smith Martin, 78, of 631 Manuel Road in Mayodan, passed away early Friday morning, November 28, 2014 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, November 30, at Beaver Island Baptist Church on Ayersville Road in Mayodan. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Martin was born February 1, 1936 in Mayodan, NC to the late Euel and Ruby Case Smith. She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Eudene loved gardening, crocheting and traveling. She was also a professional quilter.

Surviving are her husband, Samuel Dwight Martin of the home; three sons, Dennis Martin of Graham, Warren Martin and wife, Sophia, of Danville, VA, and Alan Martin and wife, Angela of Mayodan; three daughters, Vivian Mitchell and husband, Jamie, of Eden, Kay Martin of Kernersville, and Rae Moore and husband, Doug, of Mayodan; 13 grandchildren, Alison Martin of Oakland, CA, Marie Potocnak and husband, Stephen, of Concord, Kimberly Mitchell of Greensboro, Amy Lovings and husband, Anthony, of Eden, Lee Bryan and wife, Amy of Danville, VA, Liana Bryan of Danville, VA, Madison Coleman of Blairs, VA, Breanna Johnson and husband, Caleb of Wentworth, Ashlyn Heitman of Kernersville, Jeffrey Moore and wife, Brittany of McLeansville, Christopher Moore and wife, Megan, of Mayodan, Monica Martin of Mayodan, and Rebekah Daniels and husband, Scott, of Madison; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda Smith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Johnson Smith.

A special thanks is offered to Mrs. Martin's caregivers, Ashley Carter and "Tiny" Corum, along with Hospice volunteer, Cindy Snyder.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 5 - 7 PM, at Beaver Island Baptist Church and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375 or to Beaver Island Baptist Church, 3111 Ayersville Rd., Mayodan, NC 27027.
