Ernest Norman Blackwell

Ernest Norman “Norm” Blackwell, 81, of Eden passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service will be held at 4pm Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. The memorial service will be streamed live on Fair Funeral Home's Facebook page. There will be no formal visitation. ** A graveside inurnment at Dan-View Cemetery will be immediately following the service.**

Norm was born May 9, 1941, in Draper, NC, to the late Charles Ernest Blackwell and Gracie Ellen Earles Blackwell. He attended Osborne Baptist Church. Norm was a graduate of Morehead High School, class of 1958. He continued his education at East Carolina University and North Western University, pursuing a degree in business. Norm worked at Wyeth Laboratories as the Distribution Center Manager until his retirement in 1998.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Marie Ferguson Blackwell of the home; sons, Ernest Norman "Buzz" Blackwell, II, (Elaine) of McLeansville, NC, Cory Ferguson Blackwell (Greta) of Watkinsville, GA, Joseph Ryan Blackwell (Lacey) of Colbert, GA; daughter, Patricia Eggers Meine (Daniel) of North Myrtle Beach, SC; granddaughters, Cancy Marie Campbell (Titus) of Athens, GA, Birdie-Grace Marie Blackwell of Colbert, GA; brothers, Henry Blackwell of Aurora, CO, Thomas “Tommy” Blackwell of Glenview, IL, Wallace “Wally” Blackwell of Eden, NC, Billy Troxler of High Point, NC; sister, Lillie Hixon of Port Deposit, MD.

In addition to his parents, Norm is preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Blackwell, W.O. “Dink” Blackwell, Charlie Blackwell; sisters, Annie Mae Troxler, Elizabeth Melton, Charlotte Clark, Betty East.
