Emily Neal Whitfield Kidd, age 88, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Sovah Health in Martinsville, VA.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, January 2, at Overlook Cemetery. She will lie in repose on Friday afternoon from 12 Noon to 6 pm for those wishing to come by to pay their respects.
Emily was born September 13, 1932 in Alamance County, NC and was a graduate of Axton High School. She was a long-time member of Lone Oak Baptist Church, in Axton, where she was a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. Emily also served as her church secretary for 15 years. She was the past president of WMU, past president of the Axton Lion’s Club and past president of the Moose Lodge in Martinsville, VA. Emily worked for many years as a dental assistant, first for Dr. C. H. Sugg and later for Dr. Don Wright, before retiring in 2001.
She is survived by her nieces, Betty Chilton of Axton, VA and Terry Threadgill of Eddy, TX and nephews, Stuart Coe and Fred Coe, both of Eden, NC.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Whitfield; mother, Mozelle Neal Whitfield Morrison; husband, Lewis Edward Kidd, Sr.; son, Lewis E. Kidd, Jr.; and sisters, Betty Coe and Norma Gray Whitfield.
