Elizabeth Lee Brown Parleir
“Liz”
October 21, 1951 – August 15, 2026
A Visitation for Liz will be held Monday, August 17th at Fair Funeral Home from 5:00-7:30pm. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, August 18th at 1:00pm in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville, NC.
With hearts filled with sorrow, yet comforted by the promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Elizabeth Lee Brown Parleir, affectionately known as Liz. Her life was a beautiful testament to faith, love, service, and devotion to God and the family she cherished so deeply.
Elizabeth was born in Leaksville, now Eden, North Carolina, to Billy Moore Brown Sr. and Gertie Odell Brown. During her childhood, she lived for a time in Atlanta and Lynchburg before returning to Eden at the age of six, where she would make her home for the remainder of her life. She graduated from Morehead High School and later Rockingham Community College.
Liz was a woman who believed in the dignity of hard work and the importance of serving others. While attending college, she worked at Belk in Reidsville. She later began a long and dedicated career with Morehead Memorial Hospital, where she worked on the switchboard and in the insurance department before moving to the hospital's nursing center. There, she became responsible for insurance and admissions. After 28 years of service, Liz retired from the hospital.
Retirement did not slow her desire to work and help others. She subsequently spent two years at Rockingham Internal Medicine and another ten years at Eden Internal Medicine, continuing to make a difference in the lives of those around her.
Liz had many gifts, and she shared them generously. She helped couples celebrate their weddings through her work as a wedding consultant and caterer. Music was another special part of her life. Alongside her sisters, Laura and Luanne, she sang at churches, weddings, and funerals. Her sweet soprano voice brought comfort and beauty to countless occasions.
Above all, Liz's life was rooted in her faith. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and carried that faith with her throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Spray Baptist Church until marrying Wayne, whose ministry would take them to churches where she faithfully served alongside him. She became the First Lady of Meadow View Church, which is now an independent, nondenominational congregation. Liz embraced the ministry of the church and consistently supported God's work and missions.
Her greatest ministry, however, was found in her home and in the people she loved. She devoted herself to her husband, Wayne, and to her children, Amanda and Nick, offering them love, guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support. The investment she made in her family helped shape two children who grew into adults determined to make a difference in the world.
Liz also had a remarkable heart for caring for others. She gave generously of her time and attention to her parents and served as Power of Attorney for her sisters, Laura and Luanne. Whether caring for family, helping a friend, preparing a meal, or simply being present when someone needed her, Liz had a way of making people feel loved and remembered.
She was also a wonderful cook and took great joy in preparing food to share with family and friends. She enjoyed reading, spending time on her iPad, watching Jeopardy! and The Andy Griffith Show, and making memories with the people she loved. Trips to the beach and mountains were especially treasured, bringing opportunities for shopping, good food, relaxation, laughter, and time together.
Liz's life was not measured simply by the years she lived, but by the lives she touched during those years. She gave her family a legacy of faith, compassion, perseverance, and love—a legacy that will continue through the generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Moore Brown Sr. and Gertie Odell Brown, and her brothers, Billy Brown Jr. and Joe Brown.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 42 years, Rev. Wayne Parleir; daughter Amanda Brumble (Justin); son Nick Parleir; brother George Brown; and sisters Laura Brown, Luanne Joyce, and Sylvia Brown. She also leaves behind extended family and many friends whose lives were made richer by knowing her.
Though Liz will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her faith was not merely something she professed—it was something she lived. The love she gave, the faith she shared, the songs she sang, the meals she prepared, and the countless acts of service she offered will remain as lasting reminders of a life beautifully lived.
Her earthly journey is complete, but her story continues in the hearts of all who loved her and in the eternal home she believed awaited her.
