Elizabeth DeHart Bailey

Elizabeth “Beth” DeHart Bailey of King, formerly of Eden, was called home to the Lord on September 5, 2026. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

Services for Beth will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at North Spray Christian Church with Fair Funeral Home Staff facilitating. The service will be followed by a visitation with the family.

Beth was born August 4, 1950 in Leaksville to Jesse G. DeHart, Jr. and Annie S. DeHart. Beth graduated from John Motley Morehead High School in 1968. After high school she went on the attend and later graduate from National Business College in Roanoke, VA in 1970.

Beth married her high school sweetheart and life partner of more than 50 years, William “Bill” C. Bailey on November 27, 1970. Beth and Bill’s relationship only became stronger over the years and their commitment and love to each other and their family became the foundation that helped to shape the lives of their children and grandchildren. Beth and Bill spent much of their retirement years between Eden and Topsail Island. Topsail was their home away from home where they enjoyed time with one another and their family and were rarely apart until Bill’s untimely death in 2021.

Beth is survived by her three children, Stephen C. Bailey, Ashley E. Bailey Long (husband, Zack Long), and Bryan M. Bailey (wife, Brandie Bailey). She is further survived by six beautiful granddaughters, Cecelia Bailey, Madison L. Simmons (husband, Caleb Simmons), Savannah Bailey, TylerAnne Bailey, Aubrey Bailey, and Bailey Long and one beautiful great-granddaughter, Kinsley Simmons. She is also survived by her sisters, Karen Nolan and Lynne Young (husband, Bernie Young) and her brothers-in-law, Jimmy Bailey and Timothy Bailey as well as four nephews and two nieces.

Beth was a proud member of North Spray Christian Church where her family roots run deep. She was member of the church choir for many years and was often featured in the choir and sang many solos that featured her beautiful soprano voice. Bill loved to hear Beth sing and would often volunteer her to sing solos, especially at the Christmas Eve service each year. Beth worked for various medical and dental offices for many years, retiring after 25 years as office manager for Reidsville Family Medicine in 2017. Recently her former bosses, Steve and Scott Luking, told Beth that she was the glue that held the office together for all those years. She took great pride and joy in the help that her team brought to the community.

In December of 2024 Beth was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, cancer of the bile duct. She underwent treatment at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist until June 2026. She fought a brave and inspiring fight, and gave it her all right up until her passing. Beth’s family and friends will remember her as a loving and caring person that would do anything to support those that she loved and someone that would give her honest opinion when asked. Her three children will remember her as their guiding light, moral compass and as parent that would sacrifice anything

to make sure that they were safe, supported and always felt loved. Her granddaughters will always remember the support and love for each of them and the emphatic, “You Go Girl!” that that would follow any good news or achievements that they shared with grandma. Beth’s passing will leave a void with both family and friends, but the impact on each person that she touched and her undying memory with fill that space with love and light forever.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Beth’s memory to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, The V Foundation for Cancer Research and/or North Spray Christian Church.
