Elbert "Neil" Shelton, 65, of 157 Sterling Drive, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 4 PM on Friday, February 11, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ayersville Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, Mr. Shelton was born March 30, 1945, son of the late Charles Henry and Mary Goosbly Shelton. He was a member of Beaver Island Baptist Church. Mr. Shelton was a retiree of Unifi, however, he had also worked as a carpenter, brick mason and bridge construction team. Surviving is his wife, Deborah Reid Shelton of the home; daughter, Sue Ann Kelley of the home and his former son-in-law, Robbie Kelley; two sons, Neil Shelton, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Eden and Brian Neil Shelton of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Nathan Kelley, Nicholas Kelley, and Jaimee Kelley; brothers, Lawrence "Jack" Shelton of Stoneville and Bruce Lane Shelton of Ridgeway, VA; and special friends, Brad and Milissa Kendrick, Josh Kendrick and Stephanie "Boo" Kendrick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Buster Shelton; and sister, Lois.
