Edna Wray Adkins, 101 years old, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2012 at the Brian Center, Eden, NC.
The Funeral service will be at Fair Funeral Home 2:00 PM Thursday, December 20th. The service will be officiated by Reverend Paul Hawkins. We know her long time minister and friend, Tommy Mitchell will be there in spirit smiling from above. Internment will be at Dan View Cemetery in Draper, NC following the service.
Mrs. Adkins, born in Ferrum, VA, was a long time resident of Draper, a founding member of the Victory Baptist Church and it��������?ᬮ���?묢s oldest living member. She was a volunteer worker at Morehead Memorial Hospital for 33 years and at the time of her retirement, had the longest tenure of service. She retired from Fieldcrest Mills with over 30 years of service.
She is survived by her son, Robert Kenneth Adkins, six grandchildren, Dixie Cassell, Tim Meeks, Rena Hamilton, Tracy Hinson, Haylee Grill and Patty Lane Adkins, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Of special help and support to her were her niece, Carolyn Lancaster, Her son in Law Ronnie Farris and her special friend, June Harris.
Mrs. Adkins had lived a long and productive life and was more than ready to go be with her husband, Robert Adkins, her daughters , Geneva Joyce and Peggy Farris and her grandchildren, John Meeks, Gina Joyce and Greg Joyce who had all gone on before her.
The visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 19th at Fair Funeral Home, Eden, NC.
