Dr. Roy Cannon Turner

Dr. Roy Cannon Turner, 82, of 1126 Trogdon Drive, Eden, passed away at his home on Friday January 22, 2010. Funeral services will be held on 3 p.m. Sunday, January 24 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery. Roy was born September 8, 1927 in Macon, Georgia to the late John Turner and Lucile Cannon Turner. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy Seabees. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Eden, past president of the Kiwanias and past master of the Leaksville Masonic Lodge # 136 AF & AM . Roy served on the Board of Directors for Morehead Memorial Hospital , and the Board of Directors of Home Savings and Loan, he was a past board member of the Eden Chamber of Commerce and past President of the YMCA Board of Directors. He was a 50 year member of the America Optometric Association and the North Carolina Optometric Association. He is survived by his wife; Elaine Eiselstein Turner of the home, son; Lee Turner and wife Donna of Eden, granddaughter; Leslie Christian and husband Thadd of Martinsville, grandson; Brad Turner of Eden, nephew; John Sherrod and wife Diane of North Georgia. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home.
