Dr. Richard Hopper Robertson, Jr.

Dr. Richard "Rick" Hopper Robertson, Jr., age 70, of Florence, SC passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Lawson Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10 - 11 AM) at Fair Funeral Home.

Dr. Robertson was born July 11, 1948 in Leaksville, NC.  He was a lifelong member of Leaksville United Methodist Church.  He graduated from John M. Morehead High School in 1966 and continued his education at University of NC at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1970.  In 1974 he graduated from Wake Forest School of Medicine.  Dr. Robertson served his Internship, Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Alabama Medical Center.  He was Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and was a Fellow in the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association.  Dr. Robertson was retired from private practice at Pee Dee Gastroenterology and Darlington Endoscopy Center.

He is survived by his mother, Beverly Wilson Robertson, formerly of Eden and now of Glen Allen, VA;  daughter, Heather Robertson Hopkinson and husband, Steven of New Bern, NC;  two grandchildren, Andrew McNeil Hopkinson and Bradford Elliott Hopkinson of New Bern;  sister, Martha Anne R. Martin and husband, Wallace of Glen Allen;  nieces, Suzanne Martin Pitt and husband, Robert  and Sally Caroline Martin, both of Glen Allen;  nephew, Jonathan Wallace Martin of Glen Allen;  and close friends, Amy Page and Susan Russell.

Preceding him in death was his father, Richard Hopper Robertson, Sr.
