Dorothy Vernon Richardson Land, 81, of Eden passed away peacefully at her home with her children by her side on Saturday evening, August 11, 2018.
A funeral service will be held at 4pm on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Lawson Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Land was born on February 17, 1937 in Rockingham County to the late Daniel Taylor Vernon and Viola Dorsett Vernon. She was an excellent cook and homemaker, she loved gardening and was especially inspired by nature’s beauty. Her love for her family was unsurpassed. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Richardson Claybrook and husband, Mike of Stoneville; son, Richie Richardson and wife, Susan of Stoneville; step-children, Charles Land of Stoneville and Stephanie Land of Eden; four grandsons, Jamey and Daniel Claybrook and Trae and Adam Richardson; four great-granddaughters, Reece, Kendall, Julia and Isabella Claybrook; and her beloved canine companion, CoCo.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Land; sister, Sylvia Vernon; and her brother, Alvis Vernon.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Yoni Vargas and his family for all of their help over the last few years, they held a special place in Dorothy’s heart.
