Dorothy Hammock Cannon, 102 of Eden, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Draper Christian Church. Visitation will be held Friday, May 22, 2026 from 5pm-7pm at Fair Funeral Home.

The family will also receive friends at the family home on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 4-8pm.

Dorothy was born June 18, 1923, to the late Lewis C. Hammock and Viola May Martin Hammock. She was a member of Draper Christian Church. Dorothy worked as a weaver at Fieldcrest Mills until her retirement. During WWII, her husband, John, was deployed and Dorothy took care of her family during his service. Dorothy was an excellent seamstress who also loved crocheting and knitting. She was dedicated to her family and her Lord. Dorothy loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Anne O’Bryant (Thomas), John Dillard Cannon, Jr. (JoAnn), and Elizabeth Hester-Ward (Mike), along with her grandchildren, Janet O’Bryant, Scott O’Bryant (Julie), Kathleen Galarza (Tom), Victoria Hale (Tarus); great-grandchildren, Ashley Daniels, Anna Patton (Chase), Ian O’Bryant (Julianne), Kathryn O’Bryant, Cameron O’Bryant, Natalie Galarza, Evan Galarza, Alexander Hale (Kaitlin), Gregory Hale; and great-great-grandchildren, Kinley Daniels, Steven Patton, and Eloise Hale. She is also survived by her brother, Earl Lawrence Hammock (Louise).

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Dillard Cannon, Sr., and siblings, Velva Lumpkins, William Oliver Hammock, and Albert Ray Hammock.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
