Doris Hennis Shelton

Doris Hennis Shelton, 93, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017, at Brian Center in Eden.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 22nd, at Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway, VA.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 at Fair Funeral Home before proceeding to the cemetery for the graveside service. At other times, the family will gather at the home of her son, 193 Green Knolls Drive in Eden.

Mrs. Shelton was born April 7, 1924 in Stokes County, NC, to the late Walter Egbert Hennis and Virginia Amos Hennis.  She was a member of Mayo Christian Church and a former manager for Hardee's.  Doris enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas on television and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her son, Terry A. Shelton and wife, Faye of Eden;  daughter, Linda Shelton Stewart and husband, Joe of Montgomery, TX;  four grandchildren, Jason Shelton and wife, Samantha, Chad Stewart, Samantha Stewart, and Jenny Thomas and husband, Ray;  three great-grandchildren, Carlea Thomas, Jared Thomas, and soon-to-arrive, Callie Rae Shelton;  and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Warren Shelton;  brothers, Gorrell Hennis, Hassell Hennis, Bernard Hennis and James Hennis;  and sisters, Sadie Amos, Ola Ferguson, Alma "Pete" Martin, Elsie Hennis, Edith Kallam, and Bessie Pratt.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
