Donnie Leon Edwards

Donnie Leon Edwards, 69, of 163 Ellington Road in Reidsville, passed away Tuesday evening, January 19, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.

 

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, January 21, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.  Military rites will be performed by the Rockingham County Veteran's Honor Guard.

 

Mr. Edwards was born May 4, 1946 in Rockingham County, NC to the late William " Bill" Jennings Edwards and Mozelle Nelson Edwards.  He was a US Army Vietnam veteran and of the Baptist faith.  Donnie was formerly employed by Joe Robertson Pools.  He was known for his humor and loving heart.

 

He is survived by his wife, Marie Vernon Edwards of the home;  daughter, Crystal Zabodyn and husband, Jeff of Burlington;  son, Willie Edwards of Lexington;  grandchildren, Logan Edwards, Landon and Layton Zabodyn, and Luke Edwards;  two step-children, James Stump of Stoneville and Dwayne Stump of Yanceyville;  and loving nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Junior and David Edwards;  and sisters, Linda Edwards Williams and Rachel Edwards Snead.

 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (11 am - 12 noon) on Thursday at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
