Born on October 9, 1930, in Haskell, TX, Don was the son of Robert and Bessie Forrester and the brother of Dorothy “Dottie” Forrester Houk and Robert “Bob” Forrester. He met and married the love of his life, Gay Forrester, with whom he built a beautiful life revolving around family and faith. Don and Gay raised three children: Diana Forrester Scharnus (husband Jerry Scharnus), Scott Forrester, and Gary Forrester (wife Kim Forrester). He was a proud grandfather of 8 and a great grandfather of 14.
Don will be remembered as a dedicated pastor whose life work primarily focused on new church evangelism. Through his career, he mentored young pastors, served on the Board of Directors at Johnson Bible College, and took on the role of President at Winston Salem Bible College. Don led many mission outreach projects to include new church evangelism within Jerusalem and Haiti. As a devoted member within the Christian community, Don touched the lives of many through his Sunday morning sermons, private mentorship, and everyday interactions. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
