Donald Bruce Wendt

Donald Bruce Wendt, 80, of Eden, NC, passed on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at UNC Rockingham Rehab and Nursing Center in Eden.

A memorial service will be held 2pm, Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, with Military Honors on the front lawn. The service will be shared online via Facebook Live from Fair Funeral Home and Cremations Facebook page. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service, from 1-2pm, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.

Donald was born March 8, 1942, in Munising, Michigan, to the late Carroll Edward Wendt and Lydia Turvo Wendt. After graduating high school, Donald served his country as a soldier in the US Army. He worked in retail until his retirement, working for both Advanced Auto and the ABC Store. Donald loved puzzles, preferring the 1000-2000 piece projects. He enjoyed gardening and flowers. Donald was a car enthusiast, he loved trading cars and hot rods. Most of all, he loved being with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife with whom he shared 45 years of marriage, Myrtle Ring Wendt; son, Eddie Jones (Dawn) of Eden, NC; daughter, Joann Dorschel (Matt) of New Lisbon, WI; grandchildren, Caroline Harris (Jacob) of Eden, NC, Ben Jones of Eden, NC, Lucas Dorschel of New Lisbon, WI, and Michael Dorschel of New Lisbon, WI; brother, Mike Wendt of Rocky Mount, VA; sister, Gloria Dokum of Lansing, MI.

In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his brother, John Wendt; and three sisters, Diane Moore, Carol Barker, and Lorraine Alcorn.
