Dewey Birtell Shough, age 96 of Eden, NC passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Hospice of Rockingham County.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday December 21, 2022 from 4 -6 pm at Fair Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 2 pm Monday December 26th at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery Patrick Springs, Va.

Dewey was born March 8, 1926 in Spray, NC to the late Harold and Pearl Shough, he was a US Navy Veteran and a member of High Point Baptist in Stuart, Va. He retired from Fieldcrest Mills.

Dewey is survived by his son, Ronnie Shough (Francisco); daughters, Pam Sparks and Sandy Myott (Doug); daughter-in-law, Patricia Shough; grandchildren, Kristy Williams (Chuck), Alex Hankins (Chasity), Jonathan Shough (Michelle), Rebecca Shough, Stephanie Hodges (Chris), Michael Hodges, Freddie Sparks and Kelly Sparks; 10 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wives, Emily S. Rogers, Ruby P. Shough and Helen Rickman-Shough; children, Conway Shough, Brad Sparks and Teresa “Terri” Sparks; grandchildren, Brandon Myott and Brad Sparks; great grandchild, Copelin Bates.
