Demetris Jacqueline Gallimore Hutcherson

Demetris Jacqueline Gallimore Hutcherson, 92, of Eden passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at Ancora Compassionate Care (formerly Hospice of Rockingham County).

A graveside service will be held at 1pm Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. There will be no formal visitation.

Demetris was born January 28, 1931 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late James Hugh Gallimore and Loma Hatcher Gallimore. She was a life-long member of King Memorial Baptist Church. Demetris worked in the design department at Karastan until her retirement. For many years Demetris, fondly known as “Dee”, enjoyed tending to her rose and flower gardens.  At one point, she had as many as 50 different rose varieties.  Dee also enjoyed cooking and hosting family gatherings.  In her younger years, she found joy in painting.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Toni Haynes (Marvin) of Eden, Larry Hutcherson (Loretta) of Middlesex, Cheryl Ratliff (Marshall) of Reidsville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Glenda Kallam of Cleveland, GA.

In addition to her parents, Demetris was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clayton Hutcherson; brother, Michael Gallimore. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of her caregivers and the nurses of Ancora Compassionate Care, formerly Hospice of Rockingham County.
