On January 10th, 2026, Deborah Lynn Still Sasser, loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What a blessing to know that: “The sufferings of this present world are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us.” through Jesus Christ (Romans 8:18).
Deborah was born on November 18th, 1958, two minutes before her identical twin and first life partner, Rona, in Rocky Mount NC, to her parents Elias Coye Still Jr and Jean Thompson Still. Deborah’s younger brother, Coye the 3rd, was born almost 6 years later. In her early years the family served several churches and communities, but in God’s providence He brought the Still family back to Rocky Mount, NC in the summer of 1976. There, in January of 1977, she met her husband, and second life partner, Paul Sasser. Paul and Deborah were married on July 11, 1981 at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church Rocky Mount where her father served as pastor.
Deborah graduated with a history degree from Meredith College in May of 1981. She completed multiple post-graduate courses and received her degree in Medical Technology from Forsyth Hospital in 1990. She and Paul were blessed with 5 loving children, Caleb (Anna) of North Olmsted OH, Anastasiya of Raleigh, NC, Micah (Hannah) of St. Louis MO, Isaac (Isabelle) of Waterloo IL, and Anna of Kernersville, NC. She was a loving “Abi” (grandmother) to Eli (9), Effie (6), Letty (3), Ava Grace (3), Evelyn (1), Monica (1), Caleb/Anna expecting in February and Isaac/Isabelle expecting in August. And she also loved her granddogs (Hera and Pepper). Her grandchildren were truly the lights of her life and she loved them well. All of her broad training was put to work as she homeschooled all five of her children through their high school graduations.
Deborah spent her last years caring for her father who entered into eternity in 2011 and her mother who also entered into eternity in 2025. She truly had a servant's heart in her care of her children, grandchildren, and parents. She also was a loving friend and confidant to many. She and her family were long time members of First Presbyterian Church in Eden, NC. She was a mighty prayer warrior, bringing the petitions and needs of others to the throne of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her Godly counsel to her children, grandchildren, and friends will be missed, but all who knew her will rejoice in the knowledge and assurance of her eternal presence with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her fervent wish was that all her friends and acquaintances would have this same faith and assurance.
There will be a visitation time with the family at 11am Saturday, January 17th with funeral to follow at 12 noon. Both events will take place at First Presbyterian Church (582 Southwood Dr, Eden, NC 27288). A private family graveside is also planned. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church (582 Southwood Dr, Eden, NC 27288) or Ancora Hospice of Rockingham county (2150 NC-65 Reidsville, NC 27320). Fair Funeral Home is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
