On Friday, September 20, 2024, Mr. David William Grubb, Jr., 67, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior while being cared for at Atrium Health Union in Monroe.
The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home and online condolences may be made at www.leavittfh.com.
The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Back to Bethel Baptist Church in Monroe. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
David was born September 3, 1957 in Leaksville, NC, now Eden, NC and was a son of the late David William Grubb and the late Patty Caroline Weadon Grubb. He was the former owner and operator of Paul David and Company in Matthews a commercial mill working company.
He was a member of Back to Bethel Baptist Church where he had been active in the church's music ministry. He was an accomplished gospel pianist. His love for music was the second love in his life, the first being Christ his Savior and third being his wife.
David, the gospel pianist, traveled in ministry with Cathy and The Ambassadors of Collinsville, VA and Gaylon Pope and The Majestics of Goldsboro, NC and it was while traveling in the ministry that he met the love of his life, Dorothy Warner. He has also accompanied other gospel singing artists such as, Ivan Parker and Janet Paschal.
He dearly loved his family and especially his grandchildren.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 44 years, Dorothy Warner Grubb; his sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Melissa Grubb of Salisbury and Luke and Jenna Grubb of Midland; his grandchildren, Davis, Catherine and Caroline; his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Leon Irvin of Madison; his mother-in-law, Linda Warner of Monroe; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Daphney and Jesse Torres of Charlotte and his nieces and nephews and their families.
The family would like to thank all the staff of Atrium Union, with a special thank you to Dr. Boulos and Dr. Demsie for their care during this time.
