It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David A. Caudle. He went into eternal rest on December 20th, 2024 at the age of 79. David was born on March 1, 1945 to parents Gilmer and Mary Caudle in Baltimore, Maryland and resided in Eden, NC.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 28th at 2:00 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery in Eden. A visitation will be held Friday, December 27th from 4:00-6:00 pm at Fair Funeral Home. The family requests that flowers be sent to Fair Funeral Home, 432 Boone Rd, Eden.
David started working at a young age in their tobacco fields where he learned hard work. He joined the Army right out of school where he learned discipline and served proudly during the Vietnam War. He earned many awards and medals for his honorable service to his country for 8 years. He continued his retirement as a foreman for John Smith & Son Construction Co. to the end of his work career. David took these core values and raised his family to work hard, be disciplined, and love everyone. David was a dedicated husband to his wife of 45 years, Dianne, a loving father to their children, Leigh Caudle and Cindy Caudle Brown, a wonderful grandfather to his grandkids Brianna Harris and Gage Harris, a protective great-grandfather to his favorite little boy, Scooter (Maddox Chambers), and a loyal friend to so many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on cars and building things, taking trips to Cherokee, playing cards, hanging out sharing stories with his friends, and loved a good poker machine. The highlight of his day, every day, was to spend time with his great grandbaby who he called Scooter (papas boy), whom he loved more than life itself. To know David was to love David. He lived by the motto that it was better to give than to receive. He never asked for anything but he would give it all to anyone who needed it. His presence lit up the room when he entered and that beautiful energy will be greatly missed by anyone that got the privilege to meet him.
David was preceded in his death by his father, Gilmer Caudle; mother, Mary Caudle; daughter, Corina Leigh Caudle
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Caudle; daughter, Cindy Caudle Brown and son-in-law, Phillip Brown; granddaughter, Brianna Harris; grandson, Gage Harris; great-grandson, Maddox Chambers; sister, Mary Wilson; brothers: Fred Caudle, Dennis (DL) Caudle, Bobby Caudle, Mike Caudle; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews that he also loved dearly. David also had two sons from a previous marriage, David and Steven Caudle.
