Dara Lyn Bateman Cassell

Dara Lyn Bateman Cassell, 35, of 2298 Price Road in Eden, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 9, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.

Born December 21, 1980 in Rockingham County, NC, Dara was of the Christian faith. She loved spending time with her children and family as well as her animals. She was a very caring person and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Austin and Avari Cassell; her parents, Ricky and Sherry Shockley Bateman; sister, Deanna Fisher; maternal grandmother, Peggy Shockley East; maternal grandfather, Ronald G. East, Sr.; two nieces, Baylee Fisher and Keagan Tuggle; several aunts and uncles; boyfriend, Josh Cox; and special dog companion, Lucee.

Preceding her in death are her paternal grandparents, Donald and Gaynelle Bateman; maternal grandfather, Coy Shockley; aunt, Terri Boothe; uncles, Bobby Shockley and Carl Bateman; and cousin, Joshua Boothe.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1 - 2 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her parents, 1147 Washington Street in Eden.
