Connie Callahan Light

January 3, 1931 — July 29, 2024

Connie Callahan Light, 93, saw her Savior’s face and went to join Him on Monday, July 29th at her home.

 A funeral service will be held at Osborne Baptist Church, Friday, August 2nd at 2:00pm. A visitation is one hour prior to the service.

A Burial will be held on Sunday August 4th at 3 p.m. at Conner Family Cemetery, 839 Millhouse Road, Woolwine, Va.

Ruby Avanell “Connie” Light was born January 3, 1931 to the late Marion J. Conner and Beulah Idol Conner in Woolwine, Va. She was a graduate of Woolwine High School and later attended Radford College. Connie worked as a Supervisor at DuPont Nylon Plant. She served in different capacities in her community which included, Substitute teaching in Eden, Census taker in Rockingham County and Rockingham Home Extension Club. Connie gave her life to Jesus at McCabe Baptist Church in Martinsville, Va. She also had attended Kearfoff Memorial Baptist in Martinsville, Va. Currently Connie was a member of Osborne Baptist Church in Eden, NC. where she served in the children’s ministry and in many other capacities. Osborne Church was her home away from home.

Left to cherish her memory is daughter Marlene Callahan-Smith (David) of Richmond, Va, son, Robert "Rob" Callahan of Reidsville, daughter’s Beth Conner Callahan of Cornelius, NC, Victoria Light Cates of Eden; grandchildren, Nicole Osborne, of Roanoke, Alec M. Cates and Gavin M. Cates of Eden, Conner Lee Callahan and Samuel J. Cobler of Graham; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Izzy, and Neveah ; sister, Judy Potter (Perry) of Bassett, Va, P. Aubrey “Bud” Conner of Christiansburg, Va, Kenneth M. Conner (Martha Jane) of Radford, Va.; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Connie has been preceded in death by her husband, Jack Light, daughter, Susan Callahan Whitlow, brother’s Ralph I. Conner, Virgil Conner, Clay Conner, Gray Conner

At other times the family will receive visitors at the home of Connie.
