Clifford G. Ball

July 5, 1920 — January 6, 2018

Clifford Garnet Ball age 97 formerly of Stadium Drive, Eden and more recently from Trinity Elms Health and Rehab in Clemmons, passed away on Saturday January 6, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 9, 2018 at 2 pm at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden.  Burial will follow at Dan View Cemetery with Military Honors provided by U.S. Navy and the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 pm prior to the service.

Mr. Ball was born July 5, 1920 in Schoolfield , VA to the late Early and Edna Brightwell Ball. He was a graduate of Leaksville High School.  Clifford joined the U.S. Navy following the attack on Pearl Harbor and served the entire time during WW II in the Pacific and Atlantic Theatre.  He was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church serving on the Administrative Board and stayed very active until the last couple of years.  He was active in his community of which he loved very much including past President of the Rotary Club, Leaksville Masonic Lodge and the Shrine Club and was on the first board of the Tri-City Rescue Squad and the Eden ABC Board. He was the owner and operator of the Draper Shoe Store and later also owned the Leaksville Shoe Store.

Preceding him along with his parents was his wife Lottie Virginia Wray Ball; son Clifford Danny Ball; sisters, Eunice Virginia Ball and Ruby Ball Eanes; brother, Mickey Cochran Ball.

Surviving are daughter, Denise Ball Segraves and husband Dale of Winston Salem; daughter in law, Carolyn Lemons Ball of Winston Salem; sister, Marie Ball Smith of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jordan Segraves Wiggins (Daniel), Daniel Segraves, Mitzie Joyce Purdy (Greg) , Kim Ball Wright (Brian)  and Jessica Ball Porter; 6 great grandchildren; Hayley, Brendan, Dexter, Dalton, Lottie, and Lena, that he treasured; 2 beloved nieces, Myrna Webb and Victoria Musgrave.

Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church, 130 Main Street, Eden, NC 27288.
