Clarence "Bud" Malcolm Houchins, Sr. of 654 Longhook Road, Eden, passed away on Sunday morning October 2, 2011 at Piney Forest Rehab in Danville, Va.. A memorial service will be held 2 pm Wednesday at Fair Funeral Home with "Military Rites" to follow on the front lawn of the funeral home. Bud was born August 15, 1927 in Spray, NC to the late Clarence J. and Ethel Bowden Houchins. He was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church and served his country for over 45 years in the Merchant Marines and U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, Korea and Vietnam wars. He is survived by son; Mac Houchins and wife Amber of Danville, Va., daughter; Anne Lovette of Axton, Va., grandchildren; Jon , Matthew and Taylor Lovette, Neil, Debra, Katie and Amy Houchins, Jack and Shelby Brady, brothers; David Wayne Houchins and Arthur Ray Houchins, sisters; Romona May, Pella Talatha and Ethel Diane, numerous neices and nephews. Preceding Bud in death along with his parents were his wives; 1st wife, Kathleen Manning and 2nd wife, Pauline Sands Houchins, brothers; Gable Jackson Houchins and Clarence Jackson Houchins, Jr., sisters; Margaret Marie and Lucinda Faye. The family will receive friends and family following the service and other times at the home of his brother, Arthur Ray Houchins at 127 S. Fieldcrest Road in Eden.
