Christine Price Porter

Christine Price Porter, 90, a wonderful, loving, caring mother, sister, and grandmother, "Meenya," of 801 Circle Drive in Eden, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at her home.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, January 26, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Entombment will follow in the Overlook Mausoleum.

 

Mrs. Porter was born in Rockingham County on January 8, 1926 to the late Fred H. Price and Bessie Hall Price.  She was a member of Spray United Methodist Church. She had a heart of gold and was special, and loved by all.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Porter and fiance', David Charles, of Eden;  sons, Terri Porter and wife, Sandra and Bruce Porter of Eden;  granddaughter, Hannah Porter;  three grand-dogs, Ginger, Joy, and Reeses;  two brothers, Billy Price and wife, Ann, and Phillip Price, both of Eden;  sisters, Wanda Reynolds and Sunshine Gauldin and husband, Harold, both of Eden;  brother-in-law, Herbert Dixon of Charlotte;  and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 wonderful years, Jay Franklin Porter;  brother, Fred Price, Jr.;  sister, Bobbie Jean Dixon; and brother in law, Melvin "Bud" Reynolds.

 

The family will receive friends Monday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
