Christine Strutton Harris

Christine Harris, 95, of Raleigh, NC, and formerly of Eden, NC, passed away January 11, 2025 following an extended battle with dementia.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden with burial to follow at Overlook Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Christine was born in Spray, NC, to W.B. Strutton and Della Strutton on March 14, 1929. She was a lifelong member of the First Church of the Brethren where family ties were deep. She graduated from Leaksville High School where she was a Class Officer and a member of the National Honor Society. On April 2, 1948, she married Herman Harris, her high school sweetheart, and shared a wonderful life with him for over 72 years until his death.

Christine worked for Rockingham Community College and Eden City School for many years and retired in 1989. Her life in retirement involved church activities and enjoying her grandchildren and, later, her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed a truly blessed life.

Surviving Christine is her son, Mike, and his wife, Lisa, grandchildren, Lauren Murray (Nate), Chad Harris (Heidi), Benjamin Harris (Christina), Grayson Harris, and Hunter Harris (Morgan); the ten great-grandchildren including Hadley, Macy, Sawyer, Maker, Malachi, Stella, Micah, Mila, Willow, and Maeve; sister, Marie Priddy, and brother, Jack Strutton.

In addition to her parents, Christine was predeceased by her husband, Herman, sisters, Viola Jarrett and Ruth Martin, brothers, Qucell Strutton, Melvin Strutton, and Ray Strutton.

The family would like to thank the staff of Kelley’s Family House and Transitions Hospice for their care of Christine.
