Charles Kenneth Allender

Charles K. Allender, age 77, of 809 Washington St., Eden, NC, died Saturday, April 3, 2021, at UNC Rockingham Healthcare.  He was born July 19, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Kenneth and Mary Elizabeth (Johnson) Allender.  He married Ruth E. Guess, who survives.  He resided in Eden, NC and was a Protestant  by faith.  He volunteered for a non-profit organization after retirement and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and crafts.  He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Allender of Eden, NC, 4 children:  Charlene of Havre de Grace, MD, Esther of Plymouth, IN, Rodney of Las Vegas, NV, and Connie of Jacksonville, FL, 2 sisters:  Tammy Waters of Havre de Grace, MD and Ann Waters of Baltimore, MD, 2 brothers:  James Hall of Havre de Grace, MD and Tommy Waters of Havre de Grace, MD, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Gregory Allender, 2 sisters Rose Christy and Doris Sconion.

Funeral Services for Charles K. Allender will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at 11:00 AM with Military Honors accorded by the Ridgway Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Officiating will be Rudy Melzer, Lay Minister.  Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.  Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.  Memorials, if desired, can be made to Vietnam Veterans.  Share your online condolences at thompsonfuneralhomepa.com
